Hubs and Hops is hosting the Second Annual Dirt Road Classic on April 12-13 during Due South, a weekend that we all know to be full of fun happenings in our Thomasville.
I’m no bicyclist (biker? rider?)—clearly since I don’t even know the right nomenclature—but this thing sounds like a lot of fun.
You have your choice of a 10-, 20-, 50-, or 100-mile ride starting with staggered times beginning at 7:30 AM led by former World Tour Cyclist, Tour De France rider and Professional Coach, Tom Danielson. Tom will be in Thomasville to kick off the festivities on Thursday evening April 11th for a VIP meet and greet, which is capped at 100 participants.
For $35, you get a t-shirt (and let’s be honest, I’ll do just about anything for a t-shirt, including, but not limited to riding 100 miles on a clay road), Friday night pre-ride dinner, drinks, live music, and a pre-ride dinner presentation by Tom including an interview done by former Euro Sport writer, FSU Professor Patrick Merle. On Saturday you get breakfast, ride and a post-ride meal.
For $50, you get everything from the $35 option, plus a Hubs and Hops coupon and a Due South ticket. You better act fast because there’s only 150 of these puppies available. (The Due South ticket alone costs $25 usually!)
If you want to be right there in the heart of the downtown action all weekend, you can also camp at The Biscuit Company for an extra $15 per night on Friday and Saturday. There are no RV hook-ups, but they do provide centralized electric in the field as well as portlets. (If you’re a potty planner like me, there are standard restrooms available in the main building and free showers are offered at the YMCA.) If you’re wanting to bust out that acoustic guitar and sing Kumbaya, you can do it around fire pans which will be provided in the field.
You can get tickets for all of these fun happenings at Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.com/o/hubs-and-hops-18648300690). For more information about the event and to get updates, check out Hubs and Hops on Facebook.
Hubs and Hops is located 227 West Jackson Street and features a tap room with 10 rotating craft beers on tap. You can check out their real-time tap selections on Untappd. They also have an attached full-service bike shop where they sell Jamis, Scott, Salsa and Surly bikes and different bike accessories and bike racks.
Join them for a weekly Saturday ride beginning at 8 AM or just stop in for one of their many tap room events.
