SERVPRO is a nationwide franchise with over 1,700 offices. Each franchise helps communities and their residents through some of the most difficult times of their lives. When disaster strikes, either in the form of a weather-related event, fire, flood, or any other type of event, SERVPRO is there to ensure that members of the community are safe and secure. They offer a comprehensive list of services that are designed to assist before, during, and after these catastrophic events so that members of the community can to begin to heal almost immediately.

Emergency Preparedness

SERVPRO of Waycross, Hinesville, and Douglas puts on an Emergency Preparedness event each year to educate the community on ways they can be better prepared for a disaster when it occurs. Ericka Walker of the Waycross office said, “Our goal by having Emergency Preparedness events, like the one last year, is to prepare our communities for disasters and to educate everyone on services that we, as well as other disaster response teams, offer.” Local law enforcement, fire departments, EMT’s, Georgia Family Outdoors, and the Red Cross were all in attendance as well as many other vendors who offer services to nearby communities after an event occurs. Several food vendors were on hand, as well, such as Chick-fil-a, Jonesy on the Go and many others.

When tornadoes, hurricanes, house fires, or other catastrophic events occur, SERVPRO goes into action helping homeowners and businesses board up their properties and secure the location. Ericka says, “On top of our general services, we respond after disasters strike. For instance, when Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Matthew hit our coast, we responded by boarding up homes and preventing further damage to homes and businesses from wind and rain. We live and work in these communities and want to make sure our community keeps safety first in the event of a fire, flood, hurricane, or tornado.”

Once the storm is over and the clean up process is underway. SERVPRO offers restoration and cleaning services like:

  • Water removal and dehumidification
  • Storm response
  • Mold mitigation and remediation
  • Document drying
  • Carpet cleaning
  • Bio-hazard and crime scene
  • Deodorization
  • and many others

Every person out in the field has been certified in various types of clean up and restoration through the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification program. This is also known as the IICRC.

Dedicated Community Partner

SERVPRO of Waycross, Hinesville, and Douglas is always looking for ways to help the community. In addition to the Emergency Preparedness Event held in August each year, they also participated in National Law Enforcement Day on January 9th, 2019 by donating a few breakfast items to local law enforcement officers. (Yes, they were from Krispy Kreme.) Last Thanksgiving they helped with a local food drive that was hosted by Vyve Broadband. The SERVPRO of Waycross, Hinesville, and Douglas team also helps to support local fire stations when they hold fundraising events.

Serving Georgia’s Coastal Cities

SERVPRO of Brunswick also continually works to support its community members in any way possible. With the city sitting close to the coast, they serve many of the coastal communities including:

  • Kingsland
  • Waverly
  • Sea Island
  • Jeckyll Island
  • St. Mary’s
  • St. Simon’s Island
  • many inland communities

SERVPRO of Brunswick also strives to make a difference in the communities they serve. In December of 2018, team members held a coat drive to collect gently used coats for both children and adults in the community who needed them. When a local, historic church sustained fire damage, the SERVPRO of Brunswick team wasn’t satisfied with just cleaning up and repairing the church. They worked 24 hours a day to restore the church to its pre-fire condition. In some cases, simply making repairs is not enough. Restoration services are needed to maintain a building’s integrity and character. This is an understood part of their business and they take great pride in helping people achieve these goals.
