Theme Park to Re-Brand Ride for School, Offer Free and Discounted Season Pass to Students
VALDOSTA, Ga. – Wild Adventures Theme Park has unveiled the re-branding of an iconic ride and announced a strategic agreement with Valdosta State University to offer free and discounted season passes to students.
The big changes to the theme park and to VSU student activity offerings were revealed during a joint press conference Wednesday morning at the school’s Student Union.
“We are making history as we announce a collaboration between two of South Georgia’s most iconic treasures,” said Dr. Richard A. Carvajal, president of VSU.
Molly Deese, Wild Adventures general manager and vice-president, said the agreement grew out the park’s constant commitment to the community.
“VSU has always been an integral part of the Wild Adventures family,” said Deese. “Today’s announcement strengthens a relationship that has been fostered over two decades.”
Beginning Thursday, all VSU students who live on campus will receive a Blazer Student Resident Pass to visit Wild Adventures as part of the activity housing fees they pay each semester. The special Blazer Pass will also be available to students living off campus at a deeply discounted rate.
“We are excited that in addition to announcing a new program to bring discounted season passes to VSU students, we are also bringing the Blazer Nation to our guests,” said Deese. “I am very pleased to introduce the Blazer Blast Off.”
In the Spring of 2019, an iconic Wild Adventures ride, the Firecracker, will be rebranded as the Blazer Blast Off and will feature VSU graphics and colors.
“This is huge for all of us,” said Jacob Bell, president of VSU’s Student Government Association. “This is truly an unprecedented announcement and a big impact on the student experience. Today is a great day to be a Blazer.”
