4 pears, peeled
2 cups wine(or 1 cup water,1 cup wine)
1 cup sugar
1 stick cinnamon
1 piece whole ginger
6 whole cloves

Cook wine, water, sugar and spices 5 minutes. Let simmer for 30 minutes
to thicken some. Add pears and simmer until tender. Serve with whipped
cream and cookies.
