In their regularly scheduled meeting this evening, the Hahira City Council voted to award a $40,227 contract to Green’s Backhoe to do some base repair and resurfacing of Coleman Street. Green’s Backhoe, of Thomasville produced the lowest bid. This project will be paid for from SPLOST VII AND LMIG (Local maintenance and improvement grant) funds.
Also approved this evening was the purchase of 9 public safety radios and allowing the City manager, Jonathan Sumner, and the Finance director to attend a winter work conference.
For several years now, Hahira has been working on a Transportation Enhancement Agreement, and the final approval was given this evening to bid out sidewalks for East Main Street and Hagan Bridge Road. This project will be paid from SPLOST VII AND TE Funds.
A public hearing was held during the meeting to discuss the 2018 Budget Preliminary Adoption. No questions were raised by council members and no one in the audience spoke in favor of, or against the budget adoption. A final budget adoption will be held during the October Public Hearing, which will be held during the October City Council Meeting.
The next Hahira City Council meeting is scheduled for October 5th at 6:00 pm. All Council meetings are held at the Hahira Courthouse and the public is encouraged to attend.
